In 2018 Univision Deportes covered the Fifa World Cup in Russia by providing game analysis with real time polling, social media and augmented reality graphics.
In 2018 Univision Deportes after many decades did not have the broadcast rights to the Fifa World Cup in Russia. In order to offer their viewers a unique type of coverage Univision Deportes decided to produce 15 minute commercial free game analisys program. During this program viewers were able to see a 3D real time, virtual and augmented reality recreation of the game, engange fans in social media by sharing photos and videos and vote live on Univision Deportes website and mobile application.
The biggest challenge was finding a way to cover the games without the ability to broadcast any videos from the game. During the planning stages I provided Univision Deportes technology consulting services in their search for a solution that would allow them to virtualy recreate the games and provide game highlights and analysis as augmented reality and virtual graphics.
Univision Deportes engaged users in their website and mobile applications with the use of live polling, voting results were agregated by Megaphone and integrated into Vizrt Social TV Solution to be displayed in real-time.
For this project a new workflow was established for producers and operators that allowed them to moderate content on real time and control the different graphics outputs. I also created video wall graphics to display social media content including photos and videos, geo-located tweets and real-time voting results. In addition I created a lower third graphics package and a live ticker to display social media and voting results.
